This image is an out-take from a Phoenix Magazine Spotlight shoot in which the issue was themed “Phoenix In The 40’s.”  Betty “Tack” Blake was on of the female fighter pilots of WWII and needless to say, she had some amazing stories.

2009 Phoenix ADDY’s

Whoo ha!  We won a couple ADDYs this year at Brandon Sullivan Photography, the 2009 Phoenix Ad Club competition was good to us.  The first was a Silver in the POP category for his photography of rockers Aly & Aj with agency Moses Anshell for Performance Design Products.  Secondly was a mixed-media consumer campaign for Phoenix Children’s Hospital “Handprints” campaign in conjunction with The Santy Agency.  A big thanks to all involved.

LA Love.

Looking down on the city at night I finally found a little love for LA.  Los Angeles is one of those places I have a love-hate relationship with for many reasons.  From this vantage it was definately all love baby.

Shrimping Boats

We took a short road trip into Mexico last weekend and picked up some fresh shrimp and scallops in town from Mister Shrimp.  While I didn’t catch them myself, it was slightly refreshing to see (most likely) the boat out in the bay that did catch them just the day before.  I suppose Mexico is the closest to sustainable that seafood gets for us here in sunny AZ.

Buurrrrrrrrr

It’s been cold and rainy here the last few days in AZ, which means bundling up the little ones…it’s hard to believe Cian is already 5 months old.  It’s been a hell of a ride this year.

Betsy

It’s been a hell of a ride lately.  Shoots over the past week took us everywhere from San Fran to LA and Phoenix, sprinkle in a little prepro on upcoming work and post on completed work and you have a studio that’s on fire and exhausted all at the same time.  Meeting this 87 year old firecracker this morning definatley was a breath of much needed fresh air.  I can only pray I have her energy that late in life….and as many stories to tell.

Back to Dallas.

I’ve been bouncing back and fourth to and from Dallas over the past week and a half shooting for an upcoming Frito Lay campaign.  Today in flight, I’m guessing over New Mexico, there were these amazing fluffy clouds that must have been the same clouds that influenced The Orb back in the day.  I had to take some snaps, mostly as a study for an upcoming project in which Zeus will be firing lightning bolts down upon earth at cloud level.  Not to jinx the project, but if all works out we will be shooting some amazing Greek mythological figures and settings to create dioramas as final art.  Whoo ha.
